Art Week

It has been a very busy end to the second term. A few weeks back the Primary School got involved in Art week. We had pottery lessons.
Check out our hens!!

We studied Andy Warhol.

We learned that in 1961 Andy came up with the concept of using mass-produced commercial goods in his art. He called it 'Pop Art'. He would use commercial images and use them over and over. One early example was a series of Campbell's Soup cans. Year 5 decided to use something that is very common in family homes.....
Nutella!!

I think year 5's exhibition was the inspiration for a Year 2 students birthday cake this week.
Happy Birthday Jason!!

The Primary School collaborated in a group exhibition, which was held in the quadrangle by the front reception. Here are some photos of what else was being exhibited.

Lastly we had an excursion to the local artisan market here in Lomé. We had the opportunity to see artists at their work, early on a Tuesday morning.

Stig of the Dump

Literacy this term we are doing a novel study.
The novel we are reading is Stig of the Dump, by Clive King.

Chapter 4. Page 56.

Barney took his hat off and scratched his head. How was he to explain to Stig about the meet of the fox-hounds, and how he wanted them to join in? He looked at the drawings on the wall of the cave and they gave him an idea. He put down the spear and picked up a charred stick. ‘Look Stig’, he Said. ‘Fox!’ And he carefully did his best drawing of a fox on the wall of a cave.

This part of the book inspired our Thursday Art lesson.

Primary Sports Day

Our Primary Sports Day was designed to be fun, exciting, challenging and rewarding.
Best of all, getting moving is fun!!!!!!
We left school around 8:30am and went on a bus to the stadium in Baguida.

It took us around thirty minutes to get to the stadium

Science week is nearly here....

Science week is to begin next week, so to prepare ourselves for a fun week ahead our Secondary Biology teacher Mr. Winstanley dissected a cow's heart today in the Biology laboratory.

As we had studied the heart during the first term, Year 5 had many questions to ask and also had a lot to talk about. We also shared this experience with Miss Conway and the Year 6 students.
